2025 Overmountain Rally to Bring the Thrill of a National ARA Championship Rally Round to the Region

The Overmountain Rally Tennessee is holding three days of  national driving competition in Newport, TN on September 19 – 21, 2025.

What is Rally Racing?  Rally Racing in European countries dates to the 1700’s, while rally racing in the United States has only been around for fifty years.  The ARA competitive events are stage rally racing, which tests the competitor’s endurance.  The Overmountain Rally Tennessee competitors will be challenged by the gravel forest roads, dust, and the clock in the Cherokee National Forest.  The competition vehicles are specially prepared street vehicles with modifications for safety and durability.

How to attend as a spectator: There are multiple great ways to see rally action on Saturday! Start the day with by meeting the drivers at the Parc Expose’ at Newport Speedway in Newport, TN. Spectating starts FAST with an action packed Friday at Newport Speedway! The day starts with rally team load in, pit area setup, and tech and contingency from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Parc expose’ (rally car show) and ‘meet the crews’ starts at 6:30 PM, and the head-to-head Super Special Stage on the high banked Newport Speedway kicks off at 9:00! It’ll be a late night under the lights watching the rally cars fly off the jumps and rip donuts on the high banks!

On Saturday, the day starts with a Parc expose from 9 am to 10 am, or get out to a spectator location early to see the cars on the first loop. All forest spectator points are captive – meaning that you will not be able to come and go as you wish. If you go to a spectator point early to catch the first loop, plan to stay there for the second loop. We cannot accommodate massive movements of spectators between the stages. If you choose to attend the morning Parc Expose, plan to pick one spectator point to attend on the second loop. Follow the directions below to get to the stages. It’s important to FOLLOW THE DIRECITIONS PROVIDED. We ask you to go a certain direction for a reason.

Rally cars will be back at Newport Speedway at 2:30 pm. Service area spectating is available for those that want to see the skilled service crews in action.

Saturday spectating ends with a service starting at 6:30 PM at spectator stage on the high banked Newport Speedway at 7:30 PM. Saturday track action includes jumps, hairpins, and a donut barrel!

Sunday, begins with a Parc expose at 8:30 and the Max Attack Patch Loop in the forest.  Cars will be back at the Speedway at 1 pm.

If you are a gear head or simply love the thrill of automobile racing, this is an event to add to your calendar.
