Get Out and Play in May
Are you ready to get out and play in May? The 9 Lakes Region is bursting with fun, outdoor activities across the region. If you love live music, great food, arts and crafts, or if you are simply ready to enjoy a play day outside with friends, you won’t want have to look far or dig deep into your pockets. All of these events are free:
Tangy smoke and bluegrass music will fill the air in Sweetwater on May 7 and 8. The Annual Blooms, Bluegrass and BBQ festival kicks off with a Maypole dance. Throughout the weekend, vendors and live music will continue.
Do you believe in Bigfoot is out there? We do too! The first Annual Smoky Mountain Bigfoot Festival will be held on May 22 in Townsend TN. The event will feature vendors, food, live music, chainsaw art demonstrations, and hopefully a glimpse of the elusive big guy.
Customer Appreciation Day is happening at Beach Island Resort on May 22. The Resort is hosting a Poker Run . The rules are simple. Participants will leave Beach Island by boat at noon and must return by 5 pm. Free food, prizes and surf lessons are all part of a fun day planned on water.
Lenoir City is the place to be to “rock the docks” on May 29 to enjoy a full day of music, food, and evening fireworks. Start your summer off with a boom!
Summer series concerts are also kicking off. The Morristown Farmer’s market will host their first concert of the season on June 4, from 7 pm to 8:30 pm. Bring a lawn chair. Food trucks will be available on site.
Explore the first families of the Clinch River at the month long exhibition at the Lenoir Museum at Norris Dam State Park. The building of Norris Dam and the inundation of the valley displaced families and changed lives. Norris Lake is a favorite year round destination that came from the sacrifice of first families. Stop by on a Sunday to enjoy live traditional mountain music.
Great weather and free events , so why not get out and play!
