The first dam built by the Tennessee Valley Authority in 1936 for flood control and to bring efficient electrical power to East Tennessee, Norris Dam is 265 feet high and stretchs 1,860 feet across the Clinch River. Visitors can enjoy the views of the mountains and valley surrounding the dam at the overlooks, trails and informational centers.
Directions: From Interstate 75, take exit 122 and go east on Highway 61. Turn left onto Freeway 441. You will cross over the Dam.
