In recognition of Black History Month, the Museum of Appalachia will present the Fisk Jubilee Singers. The historic a cappella ensemble, from Fisk University in Nashville, will present an evening concert at 7:00 p.m. at the Museum for general audiences. The Fisk Jubilee Singers, formed in 1871, are vocal artists and students who sing and travel worldwide, performing and preserving traditional Negro spirituals. The group has received a Dove award and Grammy nominations, was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2000 and was selected as a recipient of the National Medal of Arts. The concert will be free to museum members, but seating is limited. Beans and cornbread will be available to purchase prior to the concert.
